The Appalachian Preaching Mission
Welcome to the site for the Appalachian Preaching Mission!
The Appalachian Preaching Mission was an annual event held between 1955 and 1986 that brought in nationally-known Christian preachers to Northeast Tennessee. At the height of its popularity, the mission attracted thousands of people per service and most local churches cancelled their own services so their members could attend.
This site contains select materials from the Appalachian Preaching Mission Records from the Archives of Appalachia at East Tennessee State University. These materials tell the exciting story of the mission.
