Committee Documents
The Appalachian Preaching Mission was governed by committees from each city that made decisions on speaker selections, transportation, and the location where the preaching mission would be held.
Below are minutes from a 1954 committee meeting where many recommendations were made that became mainstays of the Preaching Mission. The next document lists suggested speakers for the 1958 Preaching Mission. Notice speakers belong to mostly mainline denominations and the black speaker is listed as "colored." The 1967 memo from the transportation committee gives an example of typical transportation arrangements for speakers. The 1975 - 1980 attendance statistics graphs attendance for night services. The final document is a 1977 lease for Freedom Hall in Johnson City, where the Preaching Mission held services between 1975 and 1981.
